INTEGRATIVE MODALITIES
We draw from differing evidence-based practices to provide a comprehensive and
individualized treatment approach that is unique to you.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy is an effective, research-based approach to exploring and healing sources of emotional and relational challenges.
The goal of this model is to foster awareness and understanding of how past experiences influence our present experience. It explores the “why” behind our thoughts, feelings, and actions. The benefits have been shown to continue growing even after therapy has ended.

The hallmark of this approach is self-reflection and introspection. The focus is on empowering you through insight into yourself and the underlying, unconscious motivations to your emotions and behaviors. Through greater understanding of your patterns and their roots, you are equipped to make more mindful choices about how you interact with others, perceive and respond to events, and how you see yourself. This puts you in the driver seat of creating beneficial changes in your life.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a research-based approach that helps you understand and improve your emotional connection with self and others.
EFT helps identify and transform negative patterns of interaction that cause distress.
This approach helps people understand their feelings and the feelings of those around them, leading to healthier and more fulfilling relationships.

This method is effective in treating couples, individuals, and families, addressing a wide range of issues from relationship distress to anxiety and trauma. EFT aims to help couples and family members transform negative cycles by identifying the cycle, then helping partners and family members to identify and share their needs in a way that helps to increase understanding and compassion.
EFT teaches how to communicate one's thoughts, feelings, and needs with increased honesty and respect so that couples and families can learn to be more emotionally vulnerable with one another through trust and kindness. This in turn strengthens their connection and leads to increased sense of harmony and wellbeing.

Somatic Experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals heal from trauma and restore balance in body, mind, and spirit.
SE helps to increase understanding of the biology of traumatic stress reactions and is supported by research. This approach uses sensory awareness to increase resiliency and stabilize the nervous system.
A large majority of people around the world will experience trauma in their lifetime, which can have significant impacts on their health and well-being. Body-centered therapies are an effective method for healing trauma, as trauma is a biological response to threatening events.
When we are faced with a dangerous situation, we have automatic, natural defense responses which occur in our body. SE explores how traumatic experiences impact our nervous system and can lead to dysregulation. SE can help to recover from trauma and increase our resilience to potential trauma.
Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) is the practice of using imagery and creative expression in an integrated way to foster growth and healing.
EXA draws from various creative modalities to help people access, express and understand their inner world. EXA goes beyond traditional talk therapy and allows you to express and process your feelings and experiences, and gives the opportunity to look at these things from different angles. Research suggests that the use of the expressive arts for therapeutic purposes offers several benefits, which include developing strengths and skills, personal growth, symptom reduction, improved communication, and increased self-understanding.
EXA is based in the idea that imagery provides a link to our inner thoughts, memories and emotions. It offers a language for expressing our inner experiences. EXA is helpful for people who find it difficult to describe for their inner world through words. If you tend to think in images and experience the world through colors, shapes, or sounds, expression through the creative process can be an extremely effective way for you to work in therapy.

EXA draws from a variety of creative modalities such as visual arts, writing/poetry, music, media arts, and drama/roleplay. EXA holds the premise that we all possess the ability to create and the creative process is fostered in an accepting and non-judgmental environment. The focus is placed on the process of creating rather than the product.

Family Systems
Therapy
Family Systems Therapy is a method that focuses on the family as a whole system, rather than a group of people who function independently of each other.

A central tenet of this approach is that each family is an emotional unit and individual behavior is considered from the context of the family. When something affects one member, it has an impact on every other member of the family. For that same reason, the strength and stability of the family can provide balance and support when one family member is experiencing problems. This approach also considers how generational, social, community, and cultural factors influence families.

By improving behavioral, emotional, and psychological functioning, family systems therapy can address a wide range of symptoms or difficulties that affect individuals and families.
-
Improved functioning - One of the key benefits of family systems therapy is that it can improve how the family functions as a whole. Improving the family support system, ensures that family members have the empathy and support they need going forward.
-
Stronger connections - Another benefit is that it promotes openness, empathy, and honesty in families. This can strengthen relationships and improve communication.
-
Healthier communication - This method helps to identify communication problems, power imbalances, and dysfunctional patterns that affect the well-being of each family member as well as the functioning of the entire family unit.
